RBZ maintans balance between assets, liabilities

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has maintained a balance between its assets and liabilities as at March 6, according to General Notice 239 of 2026, published in the Government Gazette on Friday.

The statement of liabilities and assets of the RBZ was published in terms of the RBZ Act by Mr George Guvamatanga, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion.

The schedule indicates that the central bank held ZiG 30 041 655 658,35 worth of gold and foreign assets, while cash and bank balances stood at ZiG 15 680 983 440.

Loans advances were ZiG 2 266 528 602, 36 while local investments were ZiG 14 920 965 127,48.

Fixed assets were ZiG 2 596 930 460,13, Government agency services stood at ZiG 22 365 444 300,30 and the International Monetary Fund Special Drawing Rights allocation was ZiG 35 354 373,67.

Other assets were ZiG 3 956 274 250,74. The bank’s total assets were ZiG 127 183 236 213,27.

Its liabilities in the same period also stood ZiG 127 183 236 213,27 with its net capital position being ZiG 3 944 958 823,55 while notes in circulation were valued at ZiG 526 572 452.

Deposits and loans were ZiG 54 896 833 611,56 while Government agency services were ZiG 22 365 444,30 and IMF SDR allocation was ZiG 35 689 021 340,24 and other liabilities were ZiG 9 760 405 685,62.

The assets and liabilities as at February 13 were each at ZiG 123 802 295 755,78 while they both stood at ZiG 125 430 114 168,52.
