ON Sunday, the world will mark the 44th anniversary of the death of the legendary Bob Marley.
The reggae icon died on May 11, 1981, in Miami.
The reggae icon was 36 when he lost his battle against cancer.
Renowned reggae MC Regoman and DJ Esco will host a special commemoration for Bob Marley, paying tribute to his enduring impact on music and culture.
Titled “Reggae Brunch ZW: A Bob Marley Commemoration,” it will be a gathering of reggae artists at Sherwood Golf Club tomorrow.
Cello Culture, Transit Crew, Mannex Motsi & Mofamilee Satisfaction & Trinity Band, Moosafa King & Mystic Band Sekuru Tozi, Dino Mudondo, Jah Light, Fuzzyl, Mr Muffin, African Shumba, Bobo Kalabash, Jeffari, Daddy Ray, Merciless Zim, Selekta Gibbs, Coolstany and Zion Train Band are some of the artists set to perform.
In an interview with Zimpapers Entertainment Hub, MC Regoman said Marley’s timeless music has been a constant source of inspiration, shaping his artistic style and fuelling his passion for reggae.

Marley graced Zimbabwe’s Independence celebrations in 1980.
The iconic Jamaican singer was at the peak of his career when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 1977.
He continued performing, touring the world and releasing new music.
It wasn’t until several years later that his cancer diagnosis began to affect his daily life.
