Riverton Academy Murinye, the school at the centre of an impasse between Chief Murinye and proprietor Mr Philemon Mutangiri, is the latest institution under the esteemed Riverton Academy banner.
The high school was founded by prominent Masvingo businessman and educationist, Mr Mutangiri.
Located in Machingura Village within the Murinye communal lands, about 65 km southeast of Masvingo City, the school officially opened its doors at the beginning of this year.
With an initial enrolment of 180 students, Riverton Academy Murinye is part of Mr Mutangiri’s initiative to provide quality education in rural areas.
Mr Mutangiri is also behind the prestigious Riverton Academy that is situated at Riverton Farm in Bikita, approximately 70 km east of the provincial capital.
Established shortly after the turn of the millennium, the Bikita campus comprises both primary and secondary boarding schools.
In addition, two years ago, Mr Mutangiri—a teacher by profession—launched Riverton Westview, located on the western fringes of Masvingo City.
The opening of Riverton Academy Murinye marks a significant step in Mr Mutangiri’s vision to make quality education accessible to a broader demographic, particularly in rural communities.
