A MAN from Harare who, together with his brothers, raided a woman’s house twice and robbed her of cash, cellphones and a Honda Fit vehicle, appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo facing robbery charges and was not asked to plead.
The court heard that Brian Chiteshi (28) allegedly acted in connivance with his brothers, Tafadzwa and Bright Chiteshi, who are still at large.
Magistrate Ms Moyo remanded him in custody pending further investigations.
Prosecutors allege that on February 16, at around 1am, the trio armed themselves with sticks before proceeding to Ms Yvonne Luisa Masaya’s residence.
They allegedly forced entry through a window and confronted Ms Masaya in her bedroom while she was asleep. The court heard that the brothers threatened her with violence, ordering her to remain silent as they demanded cash.
They allegedly ransacked the house and stole a Samsung cellphone before proceeding to other rooms where they took an iPhone 12, a laptop, a Samsung A2 cellphone and a Samsung tablet.
The trio allegedly demanded car keys for a Honda Fit vehicle parked outside, but fled after failing to start the vehicle.
In a second attack on March 1, at around 1:30am, the trio allegedly returned to the same house armed with sticks and glass cutters.
It is alleged they again forced entry and confronted Ms Masaya in her bedroom, where one of them grabbed her by the neck and ordered her to keep quiet.
They allegedly stole two Samsung A12 cellphones and US$25 before taking the keys to her Honda Fit and drove away.
