ROCK-SOLID GALLOWAY TAKES PLYMOUTH ARGYLE HONOURS

WARRIORS defender Brendan Galloway has been described as being “colossal at the back,” after being named Player of the Month for January for English League One side Plymouth Argyle.

In a statement, club attributed the recognition of the Warriors’ star to his consistent performances in the month in question.

Apart from defending, Galloway has also been contributing goals to the cause of Argyle.

“The defender played a vital role in a strong month for the Greens, featuring in five league games, and the second half of the Vertu Trophy win over Bristol Rovers,” reads part of the statement.

“Colossal at full-back, Argyle conceded just twice while Galloway was on the pitch, but the Zimbabwe international also contributed significantly in front of goal, scoring on three occasions.

“He had only netted three times in his previous 1 607 days as a Pilgrim.”

Galloway polled 33 percent of the votes the club’s fans cast.

He was followed by Bim Pepple who finished second with 29 percent, Ronan Curtis got 27 percent in third place and Mathias Ross with 12 percent at the end.

The 29-year-old full-back represented Zimbabwe at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. The Warriors did not progress beyond the group stage.

Former Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley is in charge of Argyle, who lie in 16th place of the EFL log table.

After losing 4-1 to Lincoln City in a league match on Sunday, Cleverley acknowledged the contribution of players such as Galloway to the club’s cause.

“It seems to be the curse of the goal-scorer for this club at the minute. [Brendan] Galloway starts scoring and he’s gone, then Pepple and Tolly (Lorent Tolaj).

“The injuries are really, really hurting us at the minute.

“They’re in key areas. They’re all potential starters and it’s difficult,” Cleverley told the club’s website. – Agencies
