Veteran Rhumba musician Fiselani “SaMangwe” Ngwenya, leader of Mlambos Express Band, is set to launch his 17th album titled Selimathunzi in Gaborone, Botswana, this Saturday.
This weekend promises fireworks for Rhumba fans, with several big names in the genre, including Insimbi ZeZhwane, Dubia Masters, Godolude, and Ndux Junior, all unveiling new projects.
Having previously held successful launches in South Africa and Bulawayo, SaMangwe is venturing into new territory with the Botswana launch, where he enjoys a strong fan base. The Super Legends will share the stage with supporting acts including Swaggerlady, Africa Super Sounds, Mokopisto, and Flying Eagles, among others.
His long and illustrious career has produced two DVDs, a single track, and four albums for his junior outfit, Mlambos Stars. Selimathunzi follows last year’s album Mambuluazambonwe, which performed well on the local market.
Some of the band’s past projects include Imfundo Yimpilo, Umkhandi Wemali, Isimo Sempilo, Batswana, Isibongo Esikhulu, Time To Party, and Plan B.
“This year, we’re launching our album in Botswana because we have a good following there as well. The songs will also be available on digital stores on the same day to reach our fans across the globe. But to our fans in Botswana, it’s time to party with the Super Legends,” said SaMangwe.
The Plan B hit-maker added that the group worked hard to maintain their signature Rhumba sound and hopes fans will fall in love with the new production.
After the Botswana event, Mlambos Express will host a VIP launch in South Africa on the weekend of November 8.
“We hope Selimathunzi will be received as well as Mambuluazambonwe, but that is up to the fans. On our part, we put in all the effort to ensure this album is a solid project that Rhumba lovers will appreciate,” he said.
SaMangwe added that the group will embark on a series of shows to promote the album as they prepare for a busy festive season.
Blessed with a sweet tenor voice, vibrant dance moves, and impressive guitar skills, SaMangwe and his band promise an unforgettable night for their Botswana fans.
