A 60-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained during a savage attack by her husband in Glen Norah.
Georgina Chiramba was attacked by her husband, Patrick Bimha, who used a spanner and fists, on February 23.
The attack happened at about 7pm.
Patrick allegedly hit Georgina a number of times on the head and face after a heated argument in their house degenerated into violence.
She sustained a swollen forehead and a severe cut on her nose.
Later that evening, at around 11pm, Georgina reported the attack at ZRP Glen Norah station.
However, her husband had already vanished.
Last week, on Monday, Georgina visited Health Direct Medical Centre at Spaceman Shopping Centre, after suffering persistent headaches.
After an evaluation, she was referred for a CT scan, due to her symptoms.
Three days later, she went to the Baines Imaging Group for the scan, where she was advised to return the next day for the results.
However, after collecting her scan results, Georgina’s condition worsened.
She was pronounced dead upon arrival at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital,
Family spokesperson, Kudzai Chiramba, 42, said Georgina is expected to be buried in Silobela today. “Yes, Gogo died after she had reported her case to the police.
“She will be buried in Silobela tomorrow (today),” said Kudzai.
A Glen Norah resident, Thomas Makina, said:
“This heartbreaking incident underscores the urgent need for awareness and preventive measures against domestic violence.
“We are urging those in similar situations to seek help before it’s too late,” said Makina.
