A SECURITY guard is believed to have been electrocuted and his body was found beneath a power transformer at Highfield Farm in Norton last week.
Trust Mudimu, 39, was employed as a security guard at the farm.
In a statement, Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, the CID spokesperson, said preliminary investigations suggest that Mudimu may have tampered with the transformer.
He left home for work on Wednesday but did not return home.
“The following day, at approximately 1300 hours, a farm tractor driver discovered his body lying beneath an electricity transformer in one of the farm fields.
“The matter was subsequently reported to the Police.
“Preliminary investigations revealed electric burn marks on the deceased’s body.
“Cut and loose copper wires were also found at the transformer, together with a pair of pliers, a knife and a torch.
“The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police therefore urge members of the public to desist from tampering with critical infrastructure, including electricity transformers, power lines and telecommunications equipment.
“Any suspicious activities involving such infrastructure should be promptly reported to the Police,” said Det-Insp Muteweri.
