A SELF-STYLED prophet from Glen View has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and killing his neighbour and friend.
Perfect Fungai Mukondo, 30, had a misunderstanding with his neighbour and friend, Talent Tarwirei, 30.
The two men had been drinking beer together.
During the fight, Mukondo allegedly tackled Tarwirei to the ground and then tied a maroon cloth around his neck, which he pulled towards him, while sitting on his back.
After some minutes, Mukondo is said to have left Tarwirei lying on the ground and he walked away.
Several residents then converged on the scene.
They found Tarwirei still motionless and untied the cloth from his neck.
One resident, speaking to H-Metro, said Mukondo was known for heavy drinking and violent behaviour, despite being a prophet.
“We could not separate them while they were fighting because Perfect is very violent.
“When we arrived at the scene, we asked for help from a nearby nurse,” the resident said.
The nurse checked for signs of life, using a stethoscope, and discovered that Tarwirei had no pulse.
The residents then reported the matter to the police.
Police arrived at his home as Mukondo was about to leave for prayers.
He was dressed in white garments.
He was arrested.
Tarwirei’s body was collected and taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
