A TWISTED love affair in Mkwasine has ended in tragedy after a woman allegedly killed her three-year-old daughter because her new boyfriend reportedly didn’t want a partner with a child.

Geviza Fadzai (35) of Village 2 in Fair Range, was arrested after her web of lies collapsed during the child’s burial preparations.

According to the police, Fadzai is said to have stabbed the toddler on the neck with a knife on Monday (25 November). She allegedly rushed to a neighbour claiming that four unidentified men had attacked the child.

Moments later, she went to the village head and changed her story, insisting the girl had died naturally.

But her plan fell apart when mourners preparing the body for burial saw a deep, suspicious cut on the girl’s neck.

They immediately informed police at ZRP Mkwasine, leading to Fadzai’s arrest.

Investigations have since revealed the chilling reason behind the act: she allegedly wanted to clear the way to marry her lover, who did not want to marry a woman with a child.

The body of the child has been taken to Chiredzi General Hospital for post-mortem as police dig deeper into the horrific case.

Police have described the incident as a heartbreaking example of how jealousy, desperation and twisted love can lead to the unthinkable.
