ZIMBABWEAN Afro-pop sensation Shashl has taken the music scene by storm with the release of her latest music video for “Energy.”
It’s off her new album “The First Quarter”.
The video has gone viral, generating widespread engagement across social media platforms as fans praise its artistic direction and high production values.
The song, produced by KB, explores themes of pain, questioning love, and conflict in relationships through powerful vocals and poignant lyrics penned by Ashley Angel Moyo.
“The First Quarter” was launched on June 21, 2025, with a live event at the 7 Arts Theatre in Harare, and has been making waves in the music industry.
This 11-track project blends RnB, Afropop, and Southern African percussive sounds, showcasing Shashl’s refined musical style and ability to turn “pain into poetry and growth into melody”.
As a trailblazer in Zimbabwean music, Shashl has been making significant strides since her debut, becoming Universal Music Africa’s first female Zimbabwean singer in 2018.
With critically acclaimed releases like “Remedy” (2023) and “Deepisa” (2023), and her 2024 “Butterflies EP”, Shashl continues to push boundaries in the music industry.
“Energy” has already started climbing the charts, including Top 100 Zimbabwe Music Chart and Top 40 Zimbabwean Songs Chart.
Shashl’s influence extends beyond music, with a strong online presence and over 1.1 million views on YouTube for her hit song “Deepisa” featuring King98.
