Durban businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize’s luxury designer handbags and luggage bags have been placed on auction.
Top designer names Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Goyard, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci and Burberry can be seen on the Bidders Choice website for people to bid on.
Bidding opened on Friday, October 10, 2025, and closes on Wednesday.
To date, the highest bids are R6500 on two Louis Vuitton Zephyr Suitcases and a Louis Vuitton Boîte Pharmacie vanity case. There are 18 designer items on the auction list, with the lowest bid at R1000.
Mamkhize’s tax problems continue to draw public comment, with some questioning who would bid on her designer items, previously thought to be fake or replicas.
Last month, the taxman, seized goods and vehicles at a training facility on a farm outside Pietermaritzburg and Mkhize’s house in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Approximately 10 trucks were involved in the removal of assets, including those that were suitable for loading furniture. Other small and heavy-duty tow trucks were brought in to tow away vehicles, including heavy construction vehicles and a number of metal shipping containers.
