ZIM DANCEHALLsinger Romeo Antony, better known as Shinsoman, swapped the mic for a dagga joint after he was busted smoking joints dagga with four pals in Highfields.
Shinsoman, who is known for his street anthems and hustler lyrics that rock Harare’s ghetto youth, found himself singing a different tune after detectives caught him sharing a stick of weed like a Christmas biscuit.
The hitmaker was not alone in the smoky adventure. He was in the company of Themba Sibanda, Shumba Tendai, Kennedy Simbanegavi and Cosmas Muzanzi.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority, the five were caught red handed on 5 January at around 6.30pm.
Police said they spotted the group “sharing a dagga cigarette near a parked vehicle in Highfields, Harare”.
The party ended instantly.
“Upon identifying themselves, the detectives recovered one stick of dagga from the first offender, leading to the arrest of all five offenders,” reads the statement.
From puff puff to pay pay.
The Mbare Magistrates Court fined each of them US$200 or four months in jail if they fail to pay. The court also slapped them with a three month sentence that was suspended on condition that they behave themselves for the next five years.
In other words, one more puff and it is prison playlist.
