Kuda Bwititi in Beijing, China
A Zimbabwean educator based in Beijing turned her 41st birthday into a dazzling spectacle of style, faith, and home-grown beats last weekend, proving that Shona flair shines brightly on the global stage.
Ms Nyaradzo Roselyn Nyanhete, a respected elder in the Zaoga church in China, was the queen of the hour at an event described by attendees as “pure elegance and funfare.”
Dressed to kill, her circle of friends and family living in China, alongside fellow church members, transformed the venue into a vibrant celebration of a life well-lived.
It was more than just a party.
To the sound of pumping Zimbabwean music, friends from across the globe hit the dance floor, creating a priceless slice of home thousands of miles away.
The vibrant scene was a powerful testament to the close-knit Zim diaspora community thriving in the East.
In a moving tribute, the birthday girl, commonly known as Roselyn by her friends, overcome with joy, thanked her guests for their unwavering support.
“You have made me feel at home in China, and I am thankful to each one of you.
Ever since I came to China, I have made so many friends from different countries who have made my time here a blessing,” she said.
Her words struck a chord with many Zimbabweans building lives abroad who rely on the solidarity of their compatriots.
Roselyn’s Beijing birthday bash wasn’t just a personal milestone, but it was a glittering showcase of Zimbabwean spirit, unbroken and thriving on foreign soil.

When the DJ dropped Jah Preyzah’s mega-hit “Ruzhowa”, the dance floor exploded as friends from Zimbabwe, China, and across the world danced along to the infectious groove.
The dance floor became a United Nations of rhythm. Zimbabweans, their voices loud and proud, led the charge. But
beside them, Chinese friends moved with surprising ease to the Shona beat, while others from different nations eagerly joined in.
The track’s roaring popularity at the Beijing party is a stunning sign of how Zimbabwe’s hottest jams are tearing down international borders and becoming global anthems.
In heartfelt tributes, speakers praised Roselyn not just as the birthday girl but as a pillar of the community.

They hailed her boundless kindness, her unstoppable hard work, and her famous love for high standards in everything she does.
“She doesn’t just live, she excels,” one friend declared, summing up the room’s admiration.
Held at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Beijing, the celebration was a masterclass in how to mark a milestone and the cross-continental celebration will remain etched in the memories of the dozens of guests who attended.
