SIX people were killed, while scores of others were injured when a Pavilion bus burst a tyre and crashed in Madziwa along the Harare-Mukumbura Road yesterday morning.

An eyewitness, Mr Richard Mwandira, said the bus overturned after a tyre burst.

“I arrived at the scene soon after the accident, which occurred around 5am.

“The bus was travelling from Karanda to Harare. Its tyre burst at a bridge near Madziwa and it overturned. When l got to the scene, several people were trapped in the bus,” said Mr Mwandira.

The accident occurred barely two weeks after another one which claimed 44 Zimbabwean and Malawian nationals in Makhado, South Africa.

The crash happened on October 12 while the bus was navigating a mountainous section of the N1 highway in Limpopo Province.
