Skills training centre at Muketi Business Centre to empower women, youths

Freedom Mupanedemo, Midlands Bureau

THE establishment of a skills training centre at Muketi Business Centre in Mberengwa District is set to empower local youths and women, equipping them with vital skills to drive economic growth and self-sufficiency.

The initiative, a collaboration between the Mberengwa community and Zanu-PF, aims to address local development needs and foster entrepreneurship.

Inspired by the Second Republic’s development philosophy: “Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo/ Ilizwe Lakhiwa Ngabanikazi Balo” and the rural industrialisation drive, residents of the Muketi area have joined hands with Zanu-PF leadership to construct the facility.

Mberengwa Central legislator, Cde Tinashe Shumba, said the skills training centre, which is expected to open early next year, aligns with Government efforts to promote education and vocational training as key pillars of community development.

He said the centre will offer programmes tailored to modern workforce demands, equipping young people with practical skills to seize future opportunities and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

“Once this structure is completed, we will enroll for life-changing courses that are practical and beneficial.

“The project is now more than 80 per cent complete and is in line with the President’s people-centred rural industrialisation drive,” said Cde Shumba.

He said women in the community will also enhance self-sufficiency and income generation in line with Vision 2030. The training centre will play a critical role in job creation and youth empowerment.

“President Mnangagwa is saying no one and no place should be left behind in terms of development.

Women too will be able to sustain themselves through the skills they will acquire and will produce goods that meet market demands and generate income,” he said.
