IT all started at Chahwanda 48 days ago but it didn’t finish due to crowd trouble.
Yesterday, at the neutral venue of Baobab, the fight finally ended in the Glamour Boys favour.
For the record, Dynamos scored the only goal, in the 14 remaining minutes which the two teams played, watched only by a handful of Dynamos and Hardrock officials.
No team was allowed any substitutions since both had exhausted their quotas from the first phase at Chahwanda.
Referee Mhaka Magara started the game with a Hardrock throw-in, in Dynamos’ half, and there was a delay as DeMbare sought an explanation. Hardrock, who wanted to close the seven-point gap which separates them and Scottland, dominated the ball but Dynamos covered their territory well.
Then Witness Shave manufactured the goal that would lift DeMbare up to third with 37 points in 21 matches.
The winger picked the ball on the right flank and cleared a thicket of Hardrock defenders before cutting in and hit the ball with his left.
The ball beat ‘keeper Tonderai Mateyaunga but not the upright post and Moses Demera, lurking around, bundled it home.
That was it.
And just like that, in a 14-minute contest that stretched to 17, Dynamos brought all the points back to the capital city.
Hardrock have now lost against Dynamos, CAPS United, Highlanders and Scottland – who are all considered the top teams in the top-flight league.
