THE Special Advisor to the President, Dr Joram Gumbo, is touring Gangarahwe Primary School, which is one of the 17 model schools across the country.

From grass-thatched and dagga classrooms, the school now boasts of a double-storey block with six classrooms and another two-classroom block in a transformation facilitated by the Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ).

Built at a cost of US$310 000, the school stands out deep in the arid Hurungwe District.

The makeshift classrooms had concrete slabs for benches, while teachers were squatting in the community.

Dr Gumbo is being accompanied by Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo, Provincial secretary Mr Josphat Jaji, Chief Dandawa and MMCZ representatives, including a director Mrs Thandiwe Mlobane among others.

Mrs Mlobane said the second phase will see the construction of an administration, ECD blocks and the installation of solar power.
