VETERAN sports administrator Cleopas Gochera, owner of the Guruve-based Sagittarius Wrestling Club and a former technical advisor of the Association of Associated Wrestling Styles of Zimbabwe, has penned a book on self-defence.

Titled SMKLGX 6D Defence System, the hand book, through illustrations, offers basic physical self-defence skills.

According to Gochera, SMKLGX 6D Defence System is an acronym from Sparring( strictly self-defence), Mutilation (lethal), Knowledge (broad awareness) Limbs (total use of arms and legs), Ground (falls and resistances,), Exercising (for fighting fitness and good health).

Gochera, who is also a former vice president of the Zimbabwe Wrestling Federation, explained some of the book’s benefits.

“The book provides awareness about the subject of violence. It provides solutions that can be used to prevent and to de-escalate potentially violent situations.”

“The book also equip readers with physical defence skills , resulting in them gaining high-self-esteem and confidence.”

The 61-year-old former amateur wrestler, who was previously based in Mabvuku, Harare, is now based in Guruve where he has since turned a part of his farm into a wrestling training ground.

He specialises in Beach, Greco Roman and Free style wrestling.
