There’s trouble in Manicaland Province and the Eastern Region at large in as far as the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League game is concerned.
Four teams from the province are battling against relegation from the top-flight league ahead of the PSL’s Super Sunday Matchday 34 fixtures.
Bikita Minerals, GreenFuel, Manica Diamonds and Triangle United are all involved in this dogfight.
Interestingly, the four sides might end up eliminating each other on Sunday.
Manica Diamonds host Bikita Minerals at Sakubva while GreenFuel and Triangle United lock horns in Chisumbanje, some 230 kilometres from Mutare.
It could be a tough fortnight for Triangle United coach Genesis “Kaka” Mangombe, who could end up losing everything that he has worked for since joining the Lowveld side back in May.
He could also end up celebrating a special double, should Triangle United survive relegation and go on to win the Chibuku Super Cup against Dynamos the following weekend at Gibbo.
But it is first things first.
The Sugar Sugar Boys have 37 points and will ensure safety with a victory against Boyz Dze Nharo on Sunday.
Rodwell Dhlakama’s men have 36 points and will also maximise on home advantage at the GreenFuel Arena in Chisumbanje.
A draw might be enough if results elsewhere go in their favour.
Highlanders, Chicken Inn, Manica Diamonds and Dynamos are all on 38 points and still not safe from relegation.
“We need to work hard, this is no longer kids’ play,” Mangombe told Zimpapers Sports Hub.
An outright win for Triangle United will ensure there will be Premiership action again at Gibbo in 2026.
“This is the final push and we have to get over the line.
“The good thing is that we are a united family, which is really important at this stage.
“My boys already understand the way we want them to play,” Mangombe added.
Triangle United walloped already relegated Kwekwe United 4-0 at Gibbo in their last league game.
Worryingly though, they have picked up just five points from their last five games.
They also come up against a GreenFuel who have been in resurgent form, which saw them garner eight points from their last five games.
However, unlike Triangle United who could survive with a draw, GreenFuel need an outright win.
Dhlakama’s men would also need to offset a minus two goal difference while Triangle on their part, enjoy a plus three goal advantage.
