As the nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking continues, police intercepted two suspected drug dealers at a tollgate along the Gweru–Shurugwi Road on July 24 and recovered 480 bottles of Benylin cough syrup.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest.
“On July 24, police in Gweru acted on received information and arrested Sehlule Ndou (46) and Eunice Mhaka (42) for unlawful possession of unregistered medicines,” he said.
“The suspects were intercepted at the Flamingo Tollgate along the Gweru–Shurugwi Road. Subsequently, 480 bottles (100ml each) of Benylin cough syrup were recovered,” he said.
Meanwhile, police in Beitbridge also arrested Rabson Mashingaidze (54), Emmanuel Sibanda (35), Connias Muleya (35) and Charles Makanga (39) at River Range illegal crossing point along Limpopo River in connection with unlawful possession of 400 kilogrammes of marijuana.
Another suspect, Tinozivaishe Zimbeva (29), was arrested at Reubex illegal crossing point along the Limpopo River for unlawful possession of 13 cobs of marijuana weighing 30.95 kilogrammes.
