POLICE have confirmed the arrest of Bruce Dzungu (29), of Zharare Village, Kamhororo Shops, in Gokwe.
He is believed to be part of a gang accused of robbery and unlawful entry into premises.
In a statement, Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, the CID spokesperson, said the suspect is linked to two separate cases that occurred on November 30, 2025, at Dzingai Village, Chief Nemangwe, Gokwe. The other case happened on February 22, this year, at a house in Mapfungautsi Location, Gokwe. “The accused person, acting in connivance with Handson Mapurisa (32 – who is currently serving a jail term at Gokwe Prison -Thulani Ndebele, who is still at large, and one Aaron, also still at large, forced open a door and gained entry into a complainant’s house,” she said.
“The suspects allegedly attacked the complainant with logs and sjamboks all over the body, causing him to lose consciousness.
“They then ransacked the house and stole two Samsung cellphones, solar panels, and other valuables before fleeing the scene.”
In a separate incident in Mapfungautsi Location, Gokwe, the police said the accused allegedly took advantage of the complainant’s absence.
“They ransacked the premises and stole R10,000, US$3,265, and other valuables,” Det.-Insp Muteweri said. She said investigations led to the arrest of Handson Mapurisa and the recovery of a Samsung A04 cellphone, belonging to one of the complainants. Mapurisa implicated Dzungu as one of his accomplices, leading to the latter’s subsequent arrest.
