Swift fire brigade action saves Nkulumane property

Property valued at approximately ZWG945 000 in Nkulumane 12 was saved from destruction thanks to the prompt response of the Bulawayo Fire Brigade, who quickly attended to a house fire.

Bulawayo chief fire officer Mr Mhlangano Moyo revealed that preliminary investigations suggested that the blaze was caused by an electrical gadget that was left unattended.

The fire broke out early Tuesday morning and the fire brigade received a distress call from Mrs. Mutsi, who alerted them to the blaze.

Mr Moyo said the crew arrived to find the house alight, with the fire concentrated in the bedroom and sitting room of the six-roomed house. “We managed to salvage 50 percent of the property, and no injuries were sustained,” he said.

“Only two rooms were affected by the fire.”

Mr Moyo added that due to the rains the Brigade is mobilising a tarpaulin to cover the roof, as some parts were damaged in the fire.

“We urge members of the community to make prompt reporting of fires and to ensure that they switch off electrical gadgets when not in use,” he said.
