LOCAL transport and logistics company, Unifreight Africa Limited, has expanded its operations after acquiring an additional 100 haulage trucks and trailers to boost capacity under its specialised brand, Swift Transport.
Sixty of the trucks and trailers arrived in the country over the weekend, while the remainder are expected in the coming weeks.
Company chairman and business mogul Mr Simon Rudland said the development was driven by rising demand in both domestic and regional markets.
“The expansion of our fleet by an additional 100 trucks and trailers is a strategic move aimed at strengthening Swift’s capacity to meet growing demand across both domestic and cross-border markets,” he said.
“This investment positions the company to enhance service reliability, improve turnaround times, and support larger, more complex contracts.”
Mr Rudland said increasing trade volumes, particularly within regional corridors, also influenced the decision to acquire more trucks and trailers.
“As trade volumes continue to increase, particularly within regional corridors, the expanded fleet enables Swift to deepen its presence in cross-border logistics while maintaining a strong focus on the domestic market,” he said.
“It also creates opportunities to better serve key sectors such as mining, agriculture, and retail distribution, where efficient and dependable transport solutions are critical.”
He said the expansion underscores the company’s commitment to growth and value delivery, especially in the growing economy.
“Ultimately, this expansion reflects Swift’s commitment to growth, operational excellence and delivering value to our customers by ensuring we have the scale and flexibility to meet evolving market needs,” he said.
