GOVERNMENT has reaffirmed its commitment to continuously reviewing policies to match the evolving empowerment needs of youths.
In her address ahead of National Youth Day commemorations, Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo implored youths to take advantage of the Government’s empowerment initiatives.
Minister Chombo said youths had a key role to play in socio-economic development in their communities.
“Our youths are the innovators and change-makers as we journey towards fulfilling aspirations under Vision 2030,” she said.
“Your strength, gifts, talents and resilience are important in ensuring that the country realises Upper-Middle Income status for its people.”
Minister Chombo said the province was committed to availing empowerment opportunities to the youths, supporting development in communities and creating an investment-friendly environment and policies.
“I say to the youths, take advantage of various empowerment initiatives being spearheaded by the Government through the Ministry of Youth, led by Minister Tino Machakaire,” she said.
President Mnangagwa recently launched the National Youth Empowerment Strategy (2026-2030) and the Presidential Youth Fund to support economic development, improve skills among the youths through technology in line with the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
Through the setting up of Youth Hubs, she said, the Government was helping to reduce drug abuse, unemployment and developing skills to undertake business in the mining, agricultural and entertainment sectors, among others.
Youths will gather at Igava Training Centre in Marondera, Mashonaland East province, for this year’s National Youth Day commemorations on Saturday.
