SONGSTRESS Tamy Moyo will this weekend share the stage with American superstar Jason Derulo at the Stanbic Music Festival in Zambia.

Tamy said preparations for the festival had been demanding, with her team working around the clock to ensure they deliver a memorable performance.

The festival will be held at the Lusaka Polo Field with Zambian stars Yo Maps, Mampi, Danny Kaya and Mwila Mawila as well as local DJs, also billed to perform.

In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, Tamy said the regional stage presents an opportunity to showcase Zimbabwean talent while creating new opportunities for collaborations with artists from across the region.

“This is really a good opportunity for me to showcase what Zimbabwean creatives can do.

“I am also privileged and this is something that will create more opportunities for me to meet more artists.

“It has opened doors for regional collaborations with other artists in the line-up.

“We are taking as much time as we can to prepare for the show.

“It’s a lot of work and dedication but everyone in the camp has been working tirelessly to make sure that we represent our art.

“So, I am very excited,” she said.

The ‘Ndibereke,’ hitmaker said her team was paying attention to every detail of the performance, from the music and stage set-up to the costumes.

“We always go around and make sure that everything stands out, from the set itself to the music, down to the costume.

“We also want something that represents who we are and that represents our people and our culture,” she said.

The performance comes as Tamy continues to build her profile beyond local music, using regional stages to connect with new audiences and fellow musicians.

Tamy believes that her appearance alongside Derulo, one of America’s leading pop stars, will give her another platform to introduce her sound and Zimbabwean identity to a wider audience.
