One for his country, four for his Scottish club Motherwell.
Tawanda Maswanhise’s purple patch continues and, on Saturday, the Zimbabwe international was on target again.
This time, Warriors coach Mario Marinica, who appeared to have some reservations about Maswanhise’s quality during the AFCON finals, was there to see him in action.
He saw the forward score a beauty, struck from inside the box, after a ball had been swung in from the right.
It was an instinctive finish from a player who is bubbling with confidence and is at the very top of his game.
While the goal was the highlight of his shift, in a 4-0 win over Kimarnock, Maswanhise impressed with his runs, on an off the ball, and was always a threat.
Given the massive interest in his services from Scottish giants – Rangers and Celtic – one would have expected Maswanhise to be distracted by all the noise swirling around him.
But, he appears to be a young man with the character to deal with all these distractions.
And, he is a man whose mission is to let his football, especially the goals, do all the talking.
Since Mario was forced by public pressure to throw in Maswanhise in the final AFCON group game against Bafana Bafana, the Zimbabwean speedster has scored in every game he has played.
He scored against South Africa, with one of the contenders for the Goal of the Tournament, and created the second goal for his country.
Then, on his return to Motherwell, he has scored in every game he has played in.
The three league goals have come in games against Kilmarnock, Hibernian and St Mirren.
He also scored in the 1-0 win over Ross County in the Scottish FA Cup.
