A 48-YEAR-OLD Nkayi teacher has appeared in court for allegedly indecently assaulting a 14-year-old learner by thrusting his finger into her private parts.
Wellington Ncube, who teaches at Sesemba Primary School under Chief Madliwa’s area, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Shingirai Mutiro facing a charge of aggravated indecent assault.
He was remanded in custody to Monday for trial.
Prosecuting, Mr Owen Mugari told the court that on September 20 last year, around midday, the complainant was at her parents’ home when Ncube arrived, claiming he had revision tests for her.
He suggested they pick up another learner and convinced her to ride in the front seat of his vehicle.
“The complainant agreed and occupied the front passenger seat of the accused’s vehicle. The accused person drove towards Sesemba Business Centre, where he stopped and parked the car by the roadside,” said Mr Mugari.
The court heard that Ncube lifted the complainant’s dress, amid resistance from the girl.
Ncube only stopped his actions when he spotted one Thabita Makhalima approaching the vehicle.
The court was told that two days later at around 10AM during school break time at Sesemba Primary, Ncube summoned the complainant.
He told her he wanted to “continue where they had left off,” before he allegedly reached into her pants and inserted his finger into her private parts. He then ordered her to rejoin the others outside.
The complainant disclosed to her parents what transpired and a report was made to the police, leading to Ncube’s arrest.
The complainant was subsequently referred to hospital for examination and a medical report was produced in court as an exhibit.
