Team Zimbabwe brace for African Youth Games

WITH just a few days to go before the African Youth Games begin, the first batch of Team Zimbabwe left for Angola on Monday morning.

The Games are running from December 10 to 20 in Angola with athletes aged between 14 and 17 years from the 54 African countries participating.

Zimbabwe are fielding 82 athletes in athletics, badminton, beach volleyball, cycling, golf, judo, karate, rowing, swimming (including open water), table tennis, taekwondo and tennis.

Speaking at a send-off ceremony in Harare on Sunday, Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Minister Anselem Sanyatwe, who was the guest of honour, urged the young athletes to represent the country with dignity, humility and pride.
