A 15-year-old boy from Cowdray Park in Bulawayo was robbed of his clothes and mobile phone by four men in a Honda Fit while on his way to prayers.

In a statement, Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the incident occurred on Friday near Ngozi Mine Bridge.

“Four unknown suspects in a black Honda Fit approached the victim pretending to be lost and asked for directions to Richmond. When the complainant went closer to the vehicle to direct them, one of the accused persons struck him once on the stomach with a knobkerrie and ordered him to remove his clothes and surrender his valuables,” said Inspector Msebele.

The stolen items included black denim trousers, a grey jersey, a blue half-jersey, black Adidas trainers and an Itel P55 phone valued at US$90.

“The police are investigating the case and appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects. We urge members of the public to avoid using secluded paths to prevent such incidents and to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation,” said Inspector Msebele.
