TEENAGE Hadebe’s season in the Major League Soccer ended in embarrassing fashion on Sunday as FC Cincinnati crashed to a 0-4 thrashing at the hands of Lionel Messi and his high-flying Inter Miami.
The loss at home at the TQL Stadium meant that Messi and his teammates are the ones going into the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
Messi scored one goal and set up the three other goals.
‘‘Credit to Miami,’’ said FC Cincinnati head coach Pat Noonan. They were better tonight, and it’s a tough way to end it. Thank you to the players and the staff, everybody that puts in so much time and effort to make this an enjoyable experience, despite the highs and lows that go along with it.
“I enjoyed this experience with this group, and I know it’s a tough way to end it, but there’s a lot of good, a lot of good players, a lot of good people, a lot of good staff members and so that part’s tough.”
Messi scored the first goal of the game, his first ever against Cincinnati, then his Argentine counterparts – Mateo Silvetti and Tadeo Allende – did the rest. “Obviously, we gave too much time to Messi in some areas where the way he’s advancing with the ball and the way they move off of the ball, it’s tough to deal with,” Noonan said.
