MORE than 4,000 religious leaders from various church denominations graced the Love Zimbabwe Festival launch at the Glamis Arena yesterday ahead of their festival which is set to explode into life soon.
The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC), Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ), Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference (ZCBC), and Union for the Development of Apostolic and Zionist Churches in Zimbabwe Africa (UDACIZA) have partnered with the Palau Association to host an historic, first-of-its-kind evangelism movement in Zimbabwe.
Tembalami is set to perform at the festival. In an interview yesterday, Andrew Palau, the son of international evangelist Luis Palau, said the aim of the festival is to promote efforts to build unity, collaboration and goodwill throughout the region.
“Palau Association is a global evangelistic organisation with over 25 years of experience in citywide outreach and evangelism.
“So far, more than seven African countries have hosted the festival.
“The timing is perfect, the circumstances are perfect, young people are looking around and wondering where is hope, is there hope, what about eternity, is it for me, what does the bible say?
“Local churches and the Palau Association will collaborate on follow-up efforts and discipleship programmes.
“ZCC, EFZ, ZCBC and UDACIZA represent a broad spectrum of Christian denominations in Zimbabwe.
Palau said focus was on:
Mobilising Christians: Train Christians to share the Good News with family and friends and invite them to know Jesus,” said Palau.
Proclaiming the Gospel: Share the message of Jesus Christ on a grand scale.
Affinity events for women, special gatherings for business and civic leaders, primary and secondary school outreaches, eyeglass clinics, sports outreaches and prison outreaches.
“We could say the church is all together throwing a party for the nation to say we see you, we love you, we’re together, this message is the good news of Jesus Christ .
“The Love Festival is a place where church members will pray together for their friends who don’t know Christ.
“This event will feature well-known Christian musical artists, sports demonstrations and a Family Fun Zone,” he said.
