A fight over “respect” turned ugly when a Bulawayo man unleashed fists and kicks on his co-tenant in a shocking late-night attack.
Ben Mudenda (49), of Entumbane suburb, landed in court after assaulting his fellow tenant over claims of disrespect.
He appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube, facing a charge of physical abuse.
Mudenda pleaded guilty and was slapped with a US$120 fine. If he fails to pay, he will spend two months behind bars.
The court heard that the fine must be paid before April 24.
Prosecutor Cathrine Kuzu told the court that Mudenda and the victim, Moses Ngwenya (48), live as co-tenants.
Trouble started on March 15, 2026, at around 9PM when Mudenda accused Ngwenya of being disrespectful.
But what began as a misunderstanding quickly turned violent.
In a fit of rage, Mudenda rained blows on Ngwenya, punching him several times on the head, face and chest.
He didn’t stop there — he also kicked him once on the chest.
The victim was later referred to hospital for medical examination.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to Mudenda’s arrest.
