THE CODEBREAKER — A CHOREOGRAPHER WHO IS MAKING WAVES

Zimpapers Entertainment Reporter

A LOCAL choreographer has turned a popular social-media dance challenge into a movement that is now attracting international dancers.

Nixxi “TheCodebreaker”, whose real name is Nissi Nyamayaro, is reshaping Zimbabwe’s dance scene. He is establishing himself as both a cultural tastemaker and a creative engine behind some of the country’s most viral music moments. Blenda Hahn Aspeqvist of Sweden joined Nixxi for some of the dances.

Nixxi teamed up with Winky D to launch a high-energy “AI Baby” dance video, built around a newly-sampled track.

The clip quickly ignited a viral dance challenge, drawing more than 107,000 participants across social media platforms. The partnership underlines Winky D’s forward-looking approach to music marketing — and highlights something often overlooked in mainstream promotion: the dance community as a powerful promotional force. For Nixxi, the collaboration strengthens his position at the centre of a growing movement that connects artists and audiences through choreography designed for today’s digital generation. The collaboration helped spark a fresh promotional wave.He is also generating momentum for Zimbabwean music through original dance concepts.

His recent TikTok challenge for “Bhura Dhanzi” by Hulengende, featuring Madellido, has surpassed 1.5 million views.

The feat is being described as a new benchmark for Zimdancehall promotion—positioning the track as the first in its category to achieve those numbers through a dance-led campaign. Beyond online virality, Nixxi’s work extends into community impact.

Through his Harare-based dance studio and classes, he is using dance as a tool for social change — creating structured, safe spaces for youth as an alternative to drug abuse.

His programming also includes dance fitness and therapeutic sessions, offering adults a constructive outlet for mental wellness, confidence, and self-expression.

“As both a performing artist and artistic director, I am not simply choreographing routines. I am shaping cultural conversation, amplifying music visibility, and—through movement—helping to transform lives,” said Nixxi.
