THE GAMBLING ADDICT WHO FOUND A NEW LEASE OF LIFE. . . he was rewarded for being a perennial loser

COSTERN Sadza used to be a gambling addict, who somehow could never win but the more he counted his losses, the more he kept gambling.

Then, one day Sadza, who is also known as Manyama at Highfield Machipisa MWOS branch, was given a kiss of life for being a perennial loser.

For years, he had been trying to strike a jackpot, but there was no relief for him.

He even stayed in South Africa where he tried to make ends meet, but to no avail.

Then, one worker at MWOS felt for him and he was asked to join the company as a general worker.

He did not need to think twice to accept the offer.  He was later promoted to be a cashier, in a space of four months, something which has naturally destroyed his interest in betting.

“Life is now moving in a better way and I’m grateful to God for remembering me during my hour of need.

“I used to be one of the first to get into the MWOS betting shop because each day gives you another reason to believe that maybe it can happen today, that is the spirit of gamblers.

“But, life has changed, someone noticed how I was trying and I became friends with most of the workers and when an opportunity to make additions to their team came, they offered me the opportunity to be part of the family.”

Sadza is now a family man who is in a position to look after his mother and siblings.

He also doubles as a security member of MWOS FC, the company’s team that plays in the ZIFA Northern Division One Soccer League.

He hailed MWOS director, Patrick Tamson, for providing true leadership.

“If it wasn’t his kind recruitment policy, I don’t know what could have happened in my life because I had tried everything and nothing seemed to work.

“The recruitment process is accommodative of people like me and he has also extended his kindness by allowing me to be part of the security team.

“He is very calm and I’m grateful to have him as my boss,” he said.
