ZIMBABWE Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) Commissioner General, Moses Chihobvu, has hailed a senior member of the organisation for the way he has transformed himself into a successful farmer.

Comm-Gen Chihobvu praised Comm Luke Makuvire during a Production Exhibition field tour at the latter’s Delamore farm in Darwendale. Comm Makuvire has planted 100 hectares of maize through a joint venture and plans to double it next season.

“Those in the security sector organisation who are into farming are doing the right thing of providing food sufficiency and security to the nation, “ said Com-Gen Chihobvu.

“Tikashaya chikafu chii chinoitika? Tinofanira kushanda tichiita kurudziro yehurumende yokuti tinofanira kunge tiri pamberi pekurima.”

Comm Makuvire anticipates significant earnings from his maize and cowpea crops.

“In terms of revenue, this helps me a lot in line with the President’s vision of an upper and middle income society,” said Comm Makuvire. Zvimba South MP Dexter Malinganiso hailed Comm Makuvire as an exemplary visionary man.

“Commissioner Makuvire is leading by following the President’s Vision 2030.

“Middle income society cannot be achieved if we are not food secure.

“So, I value his contributions not only to our constituency of Mash West but to the breadbasket of the nation, “ he said.

Provincial Agricultural and Rural Development Advisory Services director, Evelyn Ndoro, highlighted the importance of soil analysis for farmers.
