Launching 30 songs in one go is no easy feat, but when you’re The Charambas, it’s simply a continuation of greatness.

This past Saturday, Zimbabwe’s undisputed gospel power couple Pastor Charles and Mai Olivia Charamba proved, once again, showed why they sit at the top of gospel royalty.

Celebrating three decades in music and ministry, they launched their latest offering Thirty Years Thirty Songs, an album crafted not by producers or executives, but by the people who matter most: their fans.

According to their first daughter and event organiser, Shalom Charamba, the concept was built entirely around audience love.

“The 30 songs that were performed were picked by the fans through social media platforms,” she revealed.

“Thirty songs from the Charambas’ catalogue, spanning from 1995 to 2025.”

“It was a great experience, organising this event.

The turnout was amazing and the atmosphere was charged. We are so grateful to God for making it successful.”

If that wasn’t enough, Shalom said, “This year, they released three albums with thirty songs in total, to celebrate their thirty years in music.”

The much-anticipated launch was held in Harare and was nothing short of a gospel spectacle.

The event drew a full house, with fans packing the venue to witness what felt more like a spiritual reunion than a concert. Adding to the electric atmosphere were appearances by gospel favourites including Janet Manyowa, Minister Benny Hadassah Muzanamombe, Pastor Tinashe Murigo, radio personality Tildah Moyo and The Mlalazi family, all of whom came to honour the trailblazing couple.

The night kicked off with a performance by their other daughter, Eternity Charamba, showing that the gospel mantle is alive and well in the next generation. She set the tone, before handing the stage over to the stars of the night, mum and dad who firstly performed a 15-song set carefully selected from their timeless catalogue.

Also gracing the stage was the group Voices of Triumph, who added flair and fire during interludes with their powerful voices and harmonies.

As expected, the classics stole the show. Songs like ‘Machira Chete’, ‘Nyika Zimbabwe, Buruka, Africa Restore Identity Hupenyu Hwangu and also Jehovah NdiMwari wedu, their first recorded song hit fans right in the feels, transporting them back to the golden days of early 2000s gospel. The crowd sang along word for word, some dancing, others shedding quiet tears — it was worship, nostalgia, and joy rolled into one.

But the new music held its own.

The Charambas may be seasoned veterans, but their sound remains fresh, spirit-led, and firmly rooted in the gospel message.

There’s a reason they’ve stayed on top for 30 years — and it’s not just their music.

Away from the spotlight, The Charambas have built a reputation for integrity and humility. While many artists have fallen from grace due to scandal or ego, Charles and Olivia have navigated their career with quiet dignity and an unwavering commitment to ministry.

“In an industry where so much can go wrong, they’ve always done things right,” one fan whispered from the crowd. “They’re not just artists they’re servants.”

Speaking briefly during the launch, Pastor Charamba summed it up perfectly: “It has always been about ministry. Not the spotlight. Not the fame. Just service.”

That humility was evident in every detail from the elegant but simple stage design, to the heartfelt performances that made fans feel seen and appreciated.

The album, ‘Thirty Years Thirty Songs’ is more than a musical release it’s a love letter to the fans, a thank-you note to God, and a spiritual time capsule capturing 30 years of faith, growth, and excellence.

As the final song faded and the applause roared, it became clear that the Charambas aren’t just looking back — they’re still moving forward.

Thirty years in, and they’re just getting started.
