THREE men have been arrested while attempting to smuggle a stolen Ford Ranger out of Zimbabwe at the Chirundu Border Post.

Takudzwa Manyanga (26), Question Mutsvunguma (23), and Terrence Mazete (23) were arrested on Monday after authorities discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen in Gweru on Sunday.

The owner of the car was drinking at a local bar when the car thieves struck and stole his vehicle.

Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Criminal Investigation Department (CID), confirmed the arrest.

“Police CID Chirundu arrested three suspects in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle.

“They were found in possession of a Ford Ranger reported stolen in Gweru on December 21, 2025,” she said.

Police are investigating the theft of a Toyota Hilux.

A couple was forced to leave their vehicle at gunpoint in Bulawayo while waiting for food at a food court.

According to Det-Insp Muteweri, the couple was relaxing in their parked vehicle when one of four armed robbers brandished a pistol, ordering them to disembark.

They were left stranded, shaken and confused, at the crime scene.
