POLICE in Manicaland have arrested three suspects, including a wanted notorious criminal, in separate incidents of stocktheft.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.
“We confirm the arrest of suspects in connection with stock theft cases in Hwedza and Marange. “Investigations are ongoing in both cases.
“A complainant reported that two hornless cows, one black and the other brown, had been stolen from her kraal during the night.
“While conducting patrols in nearby areas, police received information leading them to one of the suspects, Chenjerai Mundiya (39), of Bhunu Village, under Chief Nyashanu, Buhera, who was found in possession of one of the stolen cattle.”
Mundiya initially claimed ownership of the animal.
“Police contacted the complainant, who sent her domestic worker, George Chikore, to identify the animal.
“The cow was positively identified as belonging to the complainant.”
He added: “After further interrogation, the suspect implicated a second individual, Joseph Ngorima (56), of Zviyambe, Hwedza, indicating that the other stolen cow was in his possession.”
In a separate incident on May 1, police in Marange arrested a suspect who had been on the wanted list for multiple stock theft cases.
“A team from ZRP Marange, conducting an operation dubbed ‘No to Stock Theft’, received information that a suspect, Justice Ndihana (34) of Marange Village under Chief Marange, who was wanted in connection with three counts of stock theft, had boarded a white Honda Fit heading towards Mutare.
“The team managed to intercept the vehicle and arrested the suspect.”
