AMERICAN long-distance walker Eddie Bond, accompanied by Dr Gasolo and South African counterpart James Shuping Setshogelo, has arrived in Bulawayo after setting off from Plumtree on Tuesday.

Their arrival in the city forms part of Bond’s historic walkathon from Cape Town, South Africa, to Cairo, Egypt.
Bond has already traversed South Africa and Botswana and only entered Zimbabwe a few days ago.

“So far I’ve walked across South Africa and Botswana and only entered Zimbabwe a few days ago. I think I’ve covered almost 3 000 kilometres so far and I still have another 7 000 kilometres left to go. I expect to be in Zimbabwe for about three to four weeks before entering Zambia,” said Bond in a recent interview.
The trio’s journey has attracted attention along the route, with Bond’s endurance walk symbolising determination and cross-border unity across the African continent.
