Beitbridge Bureau

Police deployed under Operation “No to Cross Border Crimes” at Beitbridge Border Post have arrested two more suspects for smuggling marijuana into the country from South Africa.

The two have been charged with unlawful possession of dangerous drugs. The suspects are Precious Moyo (38) of Dhalazi area in Gwanda and Bernard Fighton Moyo (40) of Siyoka Village, Makhadho.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday.

“On October 25, 2026, members of the ZRP Support Unit deployed on Operation ‘No to Cross Border Crimes’ at Beitbridge Border Post were patrolling along the border when they intercepted two suspects after they had crossed the Limpopo River into Zimbabwe,” said the ZRP.

The police said searches were conducted, leading to the recovery of eight cobs of dagga.

“The suspects were arrested for unlawful possession of dagga. We continue to warn members of the public to desist from drug trafficking and cross-border crimes,” said the ZRP.

The two are expected to appear in court soon. Of late, the police and other security agents have intensified patrols along the Limpopo River under Operation “No to Cross Border Crimes” to curb smuggling, illegal migration and drug trafficking.

So far, the police have arrested more than 900 suspects for drug-related crimes between January and October this year.
