Two women killed in road traffic accident

Two women died while 11 others were injured when a commuter omnibus they were travelling in overturned on Thursday along the Karoi-Binga Road.

The accident occurred when the driver of a silver Toyota Hiace lost control and overturned.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed.

“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on July 30, 2026 at around 2 pm at the 16 km peg along the Karoi–Binga Road,” he said.

“Two female passengers succumbed to injuries, while nine other passengers sustained injuries when a silver Toyota Hiace, registration number AGG 2763, carrying 11 passengers, overturned after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

“The injured passengers were taken to Karoi District Hospital for treatment, with two of the victims who sustained serious injuries being transferred to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital for further medical treatment.”
