Two Zimbabwean designers interning in Germany

ZIMBABWEAN fashion talent, Yolanda Ngwenya and Charmaine Nziradzemhuka are in Berlin, Germany for an internship programme.

The pair of designers, from Bulawayo and Harare own Bakhar and Char Designz and are part of the Fashion Council of Zimbabwe (FCoZ).

They will be in Germany for six weeks interning at two top German fashion brands, as well as attending the Berlin Fashion Week which is set to start on Monday and end on Thursday next week.

The programme, a product of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Zimbabwe, saw participants getting the chance to travel to Germany with Yolanda and Charmaine being the recipients.

In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, the pair said among other things, they will be “offering support in organising and conducting photo shoots and fashion shows, participating in creative meetings to develop new designs and collections, assisting in creating mood boards and design sketches, helping with garment production, and support in managing inventory and orders.”

Also, they will be involved in organising events and promotional activities, assist with cutting and pattern making, research on current fashion trends and competitors, prepare exhibitions for the fashion labels, and also participate in meetings to gain insights into various areas of the fashion label.
