Umjolo is a jungle. Luckily, Bra Binzy has the map

LOVE IS NOT A PLAYGROUND, STOP PLAYING YOURSELF!

Eish mfowethu, sisi, gather around. Love is sweet, kodwa abantu bayayimosha with their own hands.

One minute you are in heaven, next thing you are starring in your own heartbreak movie. This week the letters came in hot, confusing and just a little bit crazy. From a man competing with a goat, to a woman dating a “motivational speaker” who motivates nothing but problems, and a gent whose girlfriend has turned into a full-time detective.

Let’s get into it.
I’M COMPETING
AGAINST A GOAT

Dear Bra Binzy
I don’t even know how to say this without sounding mad. My wife has changed. Every month when she goes to the rural areas, she comes back distant. No affection, no respect, nothing. I followed her once and found her performing rituals with a goat. Since then, our bedroom is colder than winter in Lupane.

Now she says the goat is “protecting our marriage” but I feel like I am competing with it. She even refuses intimacy sometimes saying she is “cleansing.” Bra Binzy, am I married to my wife or to this goat situation?

—Confused Husband
Bra Binzy responds:
Eish mfowethu… hayi, this one is not a love triangle, it’s a whole livestock conference.
First things first, akukho problem with culture and rituals. Our traditions are important. But when a goat starts getting more attention than the husband, something is offside.

Your issue is not the goat. The issue is communication and boundaries. Your wife is clearly going through something spiritual or cultural that she has not properly explained to you. And now you are left feeling like a spectator in your own marriage.

Sit her down, not when you are angry, not when you are suspicious, but calmly. Ask her to explain what is going on and how it affects your marriage. Marriage is a partnership, not a solo performance with goats in the background.

Also, don’t compete with a goat, my guy. You will lose every time. Instead, fight for clarity, respect and connection. If she cannot balance her beliefs with her role as a wife, then you need serious intervention, maybe even elders.

Right now, the problem is not spiritual. It’s relational.
MR MOTIVATION CAN’T
EVEN MOTIVATE HIMSELF

Hi Bra Binzy
I’m a 29-year-old woman dating a man who calls himself a motivational speaker. When we met, he was charming, confident and full of big dreams. He would talk about building empires and changing lives.
Fast forward two years later, he is still “planning.” No stable job, no real income, just endless talk and WhatsApp statuses about success. I am now the one paying rent, buying groceries and even supporting his “projects.”

When I raise the issue, he says I don’t believe in him. But honestly Bra Binzy, I am tired. Am I being unsupportive or am I dating a professional dreamer?

—Drained Girlfriend
Bra Binzy responds:

Sisi, sisi, haa… you are not dating a motivational speaker, you are dating a motivational poster.
There is a difference between a man with vision and a man with vibes. Vision comes with action. Vibes come with empty speeches and zero results.

Two years is not a “starting phase” anymore. It’s a pattern. And right now, the pattern is clear. He is comfortable because you are carrying him. Why would he change when the bills are paid?
Supporting a partner does not mean becoming their sponsor. You are building a life, not running a charity organisation.

Tell him straight. You need to see progress, not promises. Even small steps count, a job, a hustle, something tangible. If all he has is talk, then you must decide if you want a future built on speeches or stability.

Love does not pay rent, my sister. Reality does.
MY GIRLFRIEND IS
NOW A FULL-TIME SPY

Bra Binzy
I love my girlfriend but she is driving me crazy. She checks my phone every day, goes through my messages, my emails, even my gallery. If I smile at my phone, she demands to know why.
Last week she created a fake account to test me and got angry when I replied politely. Now she says I am a cheat in training.

I have never cheated on her. But now I feel like I am in prison. I can’t even breathe without being investigated. What must I do?
—Tired but loyal
Bra Binzy responds:
Eish mfana… you are not in a relationship, you are under surveillance.

Trust is the foundation of any relationship. Without it, everything becomes toxic. Right now your girlfriend is not loving you, she is policing you.

Her behaviour is not about you, it’s about her insecurities. Maybe she has been hurt before, maybe she has trust issues. But that does not give her a licence to turn your life into a crime scene.

You need to set boundaries. Clear ones. Tell her that trust cannot be forced through phone checks and fake accounts. It must be built through honesty and respect.

Also be firm. If you keep allowing this, it will get worse. Today it’s your phone, tomorrow it’s your friends, your movements, your entire life.

Love is not control, mfana. It’s freedom with responsibility.
final word from
bra binzy

Yoh, abantu bayasokola out there. But listen carefully. Love needs three things to survive: respect, communication and effort. Remove one, izinto ziyawa.

Stop competing with goats, stop funding empty dreams, and stop allowing yourself to be treated like a suspect.

Love yourself enough to demand better. Otherwise you will keep writing to me every week, crying the same tears.

Stay sharp. Stay woke. And most importantly, stop playing yourself.
