US$120 fine for a man who assaulted his ‘baby mama’ for refusing him access to their son

A 25-year-old Bulawayo man has been fined US$120 for hitting his ‘baby mama’ several times on the face with fists after she denied him access to their son.

Phakamani Nkomazana of Pumula Old appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube facing a charge of physical abuse.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to pay a fine of US$120 or face a two month jail imprisonment.

The fine is payable before April 27.
Prosecutor, Mr Tafara Dzimbanhete told the court that the accused person is the complainant ex-boyfriend.

He said on February 13 2026, at around 10AM Nkomazana went to his ex- girlfriend Nozithelo Moyo (19)’s place of residence to take their son.

He got angry when the complainant refused him access and began assault Moyo with fists several times on the face, said Mr Dzimbanhete.

The complainant sought medical examination, and a police report was made, leading to the accused’s arrest, added Mr Dzimbanhete.
