Rutendo Nyeve in Hwange
Vice President Chiwenga has arrived here in Hwange to commence a multi-day familiarisation tour of key economic projects and companies in Matabeleland North Province.
Vice President Chiwenga is accompanied by Matabeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Development Richard Moyo.

The high-level visit, which commences on Tuesday, is focused on assessing progress and driving development in the region’s critical sectors.
Today, the Vice President’s itinerary features two major sites.
The first is the historic Hwange Colliery Mine, a cornerstone of Zimbabwe’s mining industry.
The company has been undergoing a significant revitalisation, with recent investments directed towards increasing coal production, enhancing operational efficiency, and exploring new energy applications to secure its future.

Following this, the delegation will proceed to the Zhong Jing Heli Energy Power Station.
This project represents a major step in addressing the nation’s energy deficit through foreign investment and modern technology.
The power station is part of ongoing efforts to boost Zimbabwe’s electricity generation capacity and support industrial and domestic power needs.
The tour underscores the Government’s commitment to engaging with and strengthening strategic enterprises that are vital for national economic growth.
