THE collaborative track Kasambabezi, a musical tribute to Victoria Falls, is receiving positive reviews across digital platforms while creating new opportunities for the local artistes behind the project.
Produced by DJ Ace Kater, also known as Joseph Black, the song brings together emerging artistes, including Smokey P, Dos Pinky, Alka Tin, Madhuku, Uncle Bobos, Obvidoe, Maskal, Criss Ozzy, Muzie, Raaz, J Tonga and Blaq Spider.
Each artiste delivers a unique verse, highlighting their talent while celebrating the heritage and beauty of Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
Project organiser Handsome “Handy” Sibanda said the team has been encouraged by the reception the project has received since its release.
“The project brought together 14 artistes with the aim of celebrating our culture, showcasing the incredible talent that exists in our community and demonstrating what can be achieved when artists unite behind a common vision.
“In a relatively short space of time, the music video has surpassed over 3 000 views on YouTube and what has been even more rewarding is the overwhelmingly positive feedback from viewers. The comments on YouTube, as well as the reactions across the individual artists’ social media platforms, have been filled with praise for the quality of the production, the collaboration and the message behind the song,” said Handy.
He said the project’s impact extends beyond the number of views it has accumulated.
“While success is not measured by views alone, the engagement tells us that the project has resonated with people. It has sparked conversations, increased visibility for all the participating artistes and inspired many who have expressed a desire to see more collaborations of this nature.
“We believe Kasambabezi is achieving its objectives. It has united artistes, promoted local talent and created a sense of pride within the community. Of course, this is just the beginning. We will continue promoting the song and exploring more opportunities to ensure it reaches an even wider audience both within Zimbabwe and beyond,” he said.
Beyond celebrating Victoria Falls, Kasambabezi demonstrates the power of collaboration, providing a platform for emerging artistes to showcase their abilities while positioning local talent for greater recognition on the national and international stage.
