Mukudzei Chingwere in Dorowa
Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga is in Manicaland today as he continues with his tour of economic projects across the country.
Dr Chiwenga will complete his tour on Friday and is expected to visit several companies in the province.
He is scheduled to visit Dorowa Minerals in Dorowa, Sabi Star Lithium Mine in Buhera and Verify Engineering in Mutare today.
This comes as Government seeks to capitalise on minerals that are on demand and develop local industries through value addition, beneficiation and industrialisation to promote long-term national development and stability.
Dorowa Minerals Limited, Zimbabwe’s sole phosphate mine, was once a producer of 150 000 tonnes per annum, but production had declined to 3 500 tonnes. A US$5.3 million loan facility has since been secured for Phase 1 of the plant’s restoration.
Verify Engineering, a major gas producer, is now supplying international markets.
VP Chiwenga’s tour is part of Government’s efforts to give impetus to high-impact projects, in line with the country’s economic blueprint.
The Vice President is accompanied by Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza and Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Engineer Amos Marawa, among other senior Government officials.
Dr Chiwenga has already toured Matabeleland South, Matabeleland North, Bulawayo, Midlands and Masvingo Provinces.
