VP Chiwenga begins Manicaland tour

VICE President Dr Constantino Chiwenga’s whirlwind tour of economic projects across the country has today taken him to Manicaland as he continues to tour and asses high impact economic projects.

The tours come on the back of ground breaking ceremonies and are part of Government efforts to further give impetus to such projects as per the country’s development blueprint on the back of private sector led growth.

Today the tour will see him make three stops at Dorowa Minerals in Dorowa, Sabi Star Lithium Mine and Verify Engineering in Mutare.

Dorowa Minerals Limited, the sole phosphate mine in Zimbabwe, once producer of 150 000 tonnes per annum, had declined to 3 500 tonnes, but has since secured a loan facility of US$5.3 million for Phase 1 of the plant’s restoration.

Sabi Star Lithium Mine, is the next stop as Government seeks to capitalise on the in demand mineral to develop local industries through value addition, beneficiation, industrialisation and manufacturing which promote long-term national development and stability.

His last last stop for the day is expected to Verify Engineering a major gas producer in Mutare which is now also supplying international markets. He will complete his tour on Friday and is expected to visit several companies in the companies.

The Vice President is accompanied by Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Misheck Mugadza, Deputy Chief Secretary Office of the President and Cabinet Engineer Amos Marawa among other senior Government officials.

His tour of Manicaland follows similar tours in Matabeleland South, Matabeleland North, Bulawayo, Midlands and Masvingo Provinces.
