VP Chiwenga to open SADC Energy Week in Victoria Falls

VICR President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has arrived at a local hotel in Victoria Falls to officially open the 2026 SADC Sustainable Energy Week, a premier regional gathering running from 23 to 27 February.

The conference, hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Power Development, the SADC Secretariat, and SACREEE, is being held under the theme: Driving Regional Economic Growth through Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency.

The event brings together energy ministers, policymakers, and international delegates to foster investment and cooperation in the sustainable energy sector.

Vice President Chiwenga, representing President Mnangagwa will deliver the keynote address, championing Zimbabwe’s commitment to regional energy security.

According to the programme, his remarks will underscore the nation’s role in advancing clean energy solutions and bolstering cross-border partnerships.

Wednesday’s highlights include a high-level ministerial policy dialogue, where regional energy leaders will deliberate on driving synergies for a sustainable energy transition aligned with the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan.
